Doug Lasater
Doug Lasater was one of the founding members of the Blackwater Pyrates and currently serves as chairman of the Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership. His efforts in the conservation and preservation of marine resources and historic sites have brought recognition of Bagdad Village and it's waterfronts as a valuable asset to Santa Rosa County.
Lasater holds a degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management and was city manager/public works director for a community in Colorado before moving to Florida in 1994. A retired volunteer fireman, he is also an avid sailor and collector of old iron farm equipment with a passion for restoring historic homes in the Bagdad area.
Lasater, along with Walt Schumann, worked closely with Florida's Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) to promote the Blackwater Maritime Heritage Trail and its historical and archaeological link to the Village of Bagdad, as well as the Trail's recreational opportunities for Santa Rosa County and the state of Florida.
